Significantly higher average prices in basic food items were recorded in Cyprus in the past month compared to the rest of EU member states.
In fact, Cyprus recorded increased prices in barley and maize last month when average prices in the EU were on the negative.
At the same time, huge fluctuations recorded in basic food items in one year in Cyprus concerned the following:
Barley 71%
Pork 19.1%
Chicken 3.2%
Food 8%
Bread and cereals 11.7%
Meats 12.1%
Fish and seafood 7%
Milk, cheese and eggs 5.8%
Oils and fats 21.9%
