Cypriot gymnast Marios Georgiou has won the gold medal at men’s horizontal bar at the European Championship in Munich.
He had collected 14,400 points and was by far the leader of the competition.
The Lithuanian Robert Tvorogal and the Spanish Joel Plata followed him with 14,000 points.
President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday congratulated Georgiou through a Twitter post, calling the win a “historic event and a great honour for our Cyprus.”
