Tobacco, cigarettes, cars and air guns were some of the items seized by the Cyprus Customs and Excise Department in January according to an announcement earlier today.
In particular, between January 1 and 31 Customs confiscated:
- 57,600 cigarettes
- 203 kg of tobacco (for cigarettes and hookah)
- 347 items that violate intellectual property rights (clothing, footwear, bags, wallets etc)
- Personal luxury items (watches and jewellery) their owners failed to declare upon arrival in the Republic
- 4 vehicles
- Various items, the import of which is prohibited such as drugs, pesticides, stimulants, air guns, dairy products, electronic devices, electronic cigarettes and electronic cigarette accessories etc
Most of the cases were settled out of court with the payment of a total of €116,699.
