A patient in quarantine at Limassol Hospital has tested negative for coronavirus, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Friday.
But he indicated that a confirmed case was a question of time.
“I have just been informed by the Institute for Neurology and Genetics that the third suspected coronavirus case has also tested negative. Unfortunately, what is at issue is not if we will have a confirmed case but when. Today, WHO announced that it expects the coronavirus to reach if not all, most of the countries of the world,” he said in a tweet.

Earlier today, Ioannou announced that the government has decided to temporarily close four checkpoints — Ledra Street, Astromeritis, Lefka and Dherynia — for one week to enable additional screenings at the remaining checkpoints.
The patient, who had recently travelled to Italy, had gone to Limassol Hospital yesterday with flu-like symptoms and was placed in isolation pending tests.
A couple who had returned from Rome also went to the hospital but were discharged as they did not have any symptoms.
