Limassol Hospital is closed to the public and the state health services organisation (Okipi) on Thursday issued an urgent appeal for people to stay away.
It said that in cooperation with the epidemiological monitoring unit, all protocols have been activated and these require prohibiting entrance.
“We appeal to each and every one to behave responsibly and to follow the instructions of the Health Ministry for the protection of the health of all of us,” it said.
The announcement follows confirmation last night that a paediatrician at the hospital had tested positive for Covid 19. The director of the hospital is in self-isolation pending the result of tests.
