Coronavirus: Cyta closes shops, payments only online, suspends disconnections

Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) announced on Sunday that it suspends operations of its shops island-wide from March 17 and until further notice to contain the spread of Coronavirus and as a counter-measure it will boost customer service through its call centre 132.

In addition, it said that all payments will take place online and that it will not disconnect any services for non-payment.

Its shops that are housed within shopping malls will be closed for a period of four weeks as per the government’s latest instructions, starting at 6 am on March 16.

Its call centre 150 for business customers will continue operations. Personnel from closed shops will be redirected towards telephone customer service to support customers with use of electronic services.

Cyta’s announcement came after a raft of new measures was adopted by the government on Sunday including the closure of many businesses for a period of four weeks, including malls.

Despite the fact that some of Cyta’s shops will be open on Monday, March 16, the public is urged to limit in-person visits to the absolutely necessary to avoid the gathering of too many people in a closed space as per the government’s instructions.

Customers are urged to use electronic services via the website www.cyta.com.cy for the following services:

-Purchase products or services; for the purchase of electronic devices, home delivery is available

-Bill settlements viawww.cyta.com.cy/ebill-quick-pay, and www.jccsmart.com.cy.

-Management of customers’ services via www.cyta.com.cy/login.
