Coronavirus: Confirmed case to be transferred to ICU at Limassol Hospital-UPDATED

A patient who tested positive for coronavirus and was being treated at Famagusta General Hospital, which is the referral hospital for the virus, has developed complications and will be transferred to the intensive care unit of Limassol Hospital today, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

It said the patient is a 47 year old man. His condition had been good with the anticipated bouts of fever. But this morning, he developed respiratory difficulties and will be transferred in a special ambulance to the ICU in Limassol.

Meanwhile, four pathologists, five cardiologists, two pulmonologists and an infectious disease expert are being sent to boost medical professionals at Famagusta Hospital.

In separate news, another patient, a 70 year old man, one of the 11 cases that tested positive at Paphos Hospital has also been transferred to the ICU while it is still unknown whether he will be transferred at the Limassol General hospital or Famagusta hospital.

In the meantime, the Epidemiological Unit continues to track the 11 patients’ contacts and has been collecting samples for testing.

The confirmed cases at Paphos hospital concern eight nurses, a doctor and a patient from the ICU, where a 65 year old man had been previously diagnosed, and a cleaner.

50 new samples to be taken today concern personnel at the Paphos hospital and all patients in the pathological clinic and the ICU.
