Police chief Kypros Michaaelides told CyBC radio on Thursday morning that police would in the next few days have a system in place to issue out of court, on the spot fines of 150 euro.

Pending that, those who have been booked will be charged and will stand trial, he said. “The penalty is the decision of the court,” he said.

Meanwhile, another 3311 checks were carried out overnight on premises to ensure they are complying with rules that have closed a large number of establishments and placed a maximum on the number of people can be in the same indoor space at the same time.
