The Ecologist Movement referred to changes to the initial plan of flood protection work in the wider area of Western Nicosia for the sake of the Archbishopric.
In a letter, George Perdikis, secretary of the Nicosia regional committee and former deputy, clearly expressed his concerns about how the visible danger of the disastrous consequences from a possible overflow of Klimos River will be managed. His concern is due to the recent change of the initial plans which provided for the construction of a flood protection lake in the area of the Nicosia Airport.
At the same time, he related this change of plans with information that the Archbishopric is no longer willing to cede the land it has in the specific area.
This means delays, at the time when in the recent past serious problems had been caused in Engomi and Agios Dometios due to the waters of Klimos River.
