Central prison controversy: Aristotelous files complaint against investigators-police

Relevant News

Anna Aristotelous, Director of Central Prisons, filed an official complaint with the Independent Authority against Corruption, against two independent criminal investigators.

The investigators had been appointed by the Assistant Attorney General, to investigate whether drugs and mobile phones are being used in prisons.

Speaking to state broadcaster CyBC radio, Aristotelous claimed the two investigators collaborated with members of the Police and, according to her, in three cases attempted to influence witnesses to provide false testimonies about drugs and mobile phones in prisons.

The prison director admitted that the problem with drugs and mobile phones in prisons has not been completely eradicated but pointed out that such phenomena have been greatly reduced.
