Because of fresh needs created by the coronavirus, Cabinet has decided to appoint 116 additional school assistants at public nurseries to work for four hours daily over the next five months.
And, if necessary, to extend their contract till the end of the school year, Philenews reported on Wednesday.
The daily also said this was announced by Education Minister Prodromos Prodromou to school authorities and representatives of organisations with whom he held a teleconference on Tuesday.
Prodromou also exchanged views with them on developments in the management of schools under the prevailing pandemic conditions.
And he  conveyed ideas under review by the government in view of the new period of health protection measures following the expiration of the decree in effect till the end of the week.
