The Cabinet meets on Friday to take final decisions on stricter measures to be taken to curb the alarming new spread of the coronavirus in Cyprus.

Insiders said the presentation of a SafePass in all social gathering venues and at all times is on the cards, Philenews reports.

Also on the cards is an end to dancing and standing up around tables at bars and nightclubs. Moreover, all summer camps will be suspended.

Only beaches and pharmacies are expected to be exempted from the obligation of citizens presenting a SafePass.

At the same time, the government intends to tighten health protocols at all nightclubs, restaurants and other food venues.

This is because entertainment venues is where most covid-19 outbreaks have been recorded in recent days.

Under consideration is also the possibility of tightening health protocols and provisions currently in force concerning the operation of nursing homes and other premises of this kind.
