The Cabinet today approved a one-time allowance for children aged 4-18 returning to school, based on income criteria, after a proposal by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare.
The Deputy Minister said that the decision is part of the government’s effort to adopt measures to assist the families that have suffered the consequences of inflation, as well as to support children.
“The recipients of this allowance are persons residing in Cyprus who are listed in the Child Benefit Register. The allowance totals 50-80 euros per child based on income criteria and the family’s composition,” Minister Anthousi said.
In total 33,669 families receiving child benefits and 54,318 students will benefit from the allowance. The amount will be deposited into the recipient’s bank accounts directly.
