Book of condolences opened at Archbishopric (photos)

A book of condolences opened on Tuesday morning at the office of late Archbishop Chrysostomos B’ at the Holy Archbishopric and will remain open until Friday at noon.

According to yesterday’s decisions by the Holy Synod, the Archbishop’s body will lie in state at the Apostolos Varnavas Cathedral at the Archbishopric from Thursday until Saturday morning, before the funeral which will take place at noon.

The service will be conducted by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew who will visit Cyprus for the first time.

Archbishop Chrysostomos will be buried in a tomb under the Apostolos Varnavas Cathedral, according to his wishes.

During an extraordinary meeting yesterday, the Cabinet decided to declare a public mourning until the day of the Archbishop’s funeral, on Saturday. All official events will be postponed during the mourning period.

President Nicos Anastasiades will deliver the funeral speech.
