Attorney General: Politis article made me vomit

Relevant News

Attorney General, Costas Clerides told Active today, that a Politis article regarding a lawsuit against him for the sale of a plot of land in Pomos, made him vomit.

The article said that “in August 2014 a Land Registry newsletter that was based on a report by the Attorney General, allowed Giorgos (Joe) Triantafyllides – Clerides’ lawyer – to buy the plot in Pomos for €250,000, while according to estimates the previous owner received, its value was nearly double the amount.”

Additionally, the article wrote that “the plot was sold by an administrator/manager, without the knowledge of the owner Neofytos Epameinonda, who was left in debt and with the fear of losing his mortgaged family property. A lawsuit was filed against the buyer and the Attorney General, regarding the case, whose report in 2014 allowed immovable property to be sold, by administrators/managers appointed by banks. The lawsuit also involves the bank and the administrator/manager.

Clerides responded by saying that the article made him vomit. “Today I woke up with stomach pains, apparently caused by something that I ate last night. I tried to relieve myself by vomiting, but I couldn’t. However, as soon as I read the paper, I managed to do it immediately,” he said.

He also described the article as “a praiseworthy effort by the newspaper to find something against the Attorney General.”
