Authorities continue to intensify a campaign of enforcing relevant anti-covid protocols and regulations, conducting 2370 checks over the past 48 hours, resulting in 106 charges, against 96 individuals, 75y for not wearing a protecting mask, and 10 businesses.
Fines against businesses amounted to more than 6 thousand euro, while in 2 cases a criminal offence file was opened.
Over the past 24 hours now, 22 individuals were fined in Nicosia out of 303 checks, 14 in Limassol out of 262 checks and in Larnaca, 2 citizens and one business were fined out of 214 checks.
In Paphos, 3 people and 2 businesses were fined out of 131 checks, in Famagusta 21 citizens and one business were charged in 380 checks, while in the Morphou police district there were no fines, out of 112 checks.
The police chief has instructed officers to intensify checks over the next few days, following new restrictions that were imposed earlier this week.
