A’ phase of road cameras to be implemented soon

Relevant News

The Transport Ministry will proceed with the implementation of A’ phase of the road cameras project, while the major issue on social media is the way mobile cameras record violations.

Transport Minister Giannis Karousos gave the green light so that the system would proceed with the next phase, and processes have begun so that 16 new mobile cameras and 20 stationary ones will arrive by the beginning of the new year.

With the implementation of A’ phase, two things will happen: First the indicators of compliance will be in force, so that in case the company does not carry out what is provided in the contract, it will suffer sanctions. Also, the first installment for the supply and management of the project will be paid since the company has not so far received any money due to the fact that the project was in the pilot phase.

Furthermore, the Minister noted that according to the contract, a fine should be sent to the driver within five days from the time it is recorded, plus one day so that the violation will be recorded in the central system. If this does not happen, then there will be a penalty for the company.
