A total of 87 Syrians — 61 men, 10 women and 16 children — have been brought to shore at Larnaca.
They were aboard a wooden 13 metres boat which was sailing some 20 nautical miles northeast of Cape Greco and is believed to have set sail from Mersin, Turkey.
The coastguard’s radar had picked up a signal from the boat at 8.30 am and it was escorted to Larnaca port by two coastgaud vessels.
It docked at Larnaca port at around 1 pm. Those aboard are being processed by government services including civil defence and immigration and they will then be taken to the temporary accommodation centre at Kokkinotrimithia.
