A 57 year old woman from Portugal was found dead at the bottom of the pool of their Liopetri villa by her husband on Sunday night.
Police said that around 11 pm on Sunday night, a 72 year old Briton permanent resident of Liopetri found his wife unconscious at the bottom of the villa’s pool.
He tried to pull her out of the water, but was unable to do so. He then slipped when outside the pool and fractured his leg and was taken to Famagusta General Hospital.
Police pulled the woman out with the help of the port police. There were no signs of external injuries. The exact cause of death will be determined at a post-mortem on Tuesday.
Police are investigating.
