A 39 year old biker is in intensive care at Larnaca Hospital after he was injured in a collision with a car late on Tuesday evening.
The Cyprus News Agency said the accident occurred on Toutsane street in Larnaca at 21.15 on Tuesday when a 37 year old Greek Cypriot driver attempted a right turn into an apartment block, cutting off a motorbike that was coming in the opposition direction.
The biker was ejected on to the street. The collision led to both the car and motorbike catching fire. The biker was rushed to Larnaca Hospital with multiple fractures, underwent surgery and is in intensive care. His condition is described as serious. His helmet was found at the scene but it is unclear whether he was wearing it.
The driver of the car underwent an alcohol and drug test which tested negative. Blood was taken from the biker so that he too can be tested.
The accident occurred only hours after a biker in Nicosia lost his life in a collision in Kokkinotrimithia.
