Woman injured in Limassol clinically dead; investigations continue

Relevant News

Authorities in Limassol are piecing the puzzle behind the serious head injury of a 45-year-old woman who has left her in a coma and clinically dead.

Despite the accumulation of testimonies and evidence, investigators are yet to draw firm conclusions, and no evidence pointing to criminal activity has surfaced thus far.

Limassol CID investigators are diligently working to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the woman’s injury, bleeding, and head fracture on the right side.

Various scenarios are under scrutiny, including the possibility of a fall, an accidental injury, or even the potential involvement of foul play.

The 45-year-old, a mother of an 8-year-old, remains in critical condition in a private hospital, with medical professionals closely monitoring her status.

Simultaneously, the partner of the 45-year-old finds himself in custody for illegal entry and stay in the Republic of Cyprus.

Having been arrested for entering Cyprus illicitly on December 13, 2023, he is now cooperating with authorities, providing an account of the events in their apartment over the past 24 hours.

However, he claims ignorance regarding the cause of the woman’s injury. Both he and the 45-year-old have undergone examinations, showing no signs of struggle or external injuries.

Authorities and forensic pathologist Nicolas Charalambous conducted on-site examinations and an autopsy at the woman’s apartment. While no conclusive findings have emerged thus far, investigations are ongoing.

According to the partner’s testimony, the couple had been consuming alcohol and enjoying themselves on Tuesday night in the presence of their 8-year-old. They retired to bed late, and on Wednesday morning, the woman complained of feeling unwell.

The partner claimed to have noticed her bleeding from the nose, and her condition deteriorated until he called an ambulance at 2:30 in the afternoon.

The ambulance transported her to a private hospital, where she underwent a CT scan, revealing internal bleeding and a head fracture, subsequently leading to surgery.

However, questions arose concerning the time it took for the hospital to alert the authorities. The police were reportedly informed at 7:30 on Wednesday night after the woman had undergone surgery. Also, the ambulance crew member who picked her up noted no visible head injury. Similar observations were made by the 8-year-old, who witnessed her mother losing consciousness.

Family, friends, and apartment tenants associated with the 45-year-old have been summoned to the Limassol Police for deposition.

All claimed to be unaware of any unusual behaviour exhibited by the woman.

Additional information suggests that a close friend was present in the apartment until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, observing nothing unusual in the 45-year-old’s demeanour.
