According to the Gospel of Matthew, King Herod of Judea ordered the killing of all male children under the age of two in an attempt to ensure the death of the newborn Jesus Christ.
Accounts describe the murder of fourteen thousand infants, although this number has been disputed. Some suggest that there were barely twenty infants under the age of two in Bethlehem at the time.
The memory of these innocent victims is commemorated by the Church on the 29th of December. In contrast, in Gaza, approximately sixteen thousand children of all ages have been murdered, and the so-called civilized world stands in solidarity with the modern-day equivalent of Herod.
They offer band-aids and coffins to the victims and their families instead of taking a stand against the slaughter.
One can’t help but wonder what Jesus would say if he were alive today, witnessing this genocide, these widespread murders of innocents, justified in the name of combating Hamas, an enemy created by their own hands only to be fought today.
