Police are investigating a new online scam, following a complaint filed by a 56-year-old.
According to the complaint, between November 2023 and January 2024 during conversations with unknown persons, the complainant was convinced for the legitimacy of various websites for the purpose of buying and selling products.
The perpetrators urged the complainant to create an account in a cryptocurrency site.
The 56-year-old told police that she proceeded to buy products using cryptocurrencies as she was told that she would make a profit on commission upon selling the products.
The total sum that was elicited from the complainant is approximately 19 thousand euros.
