A 31-year-old woman who is held on suspicion of being involved in a money laundering case, travelled twenty times to Cyprus in eight months, transporting nearly eight million euros in total.
According to philenews, she was able to pass through Cypriot airports without any additional inquiries from authorities regarding the large sums of money in her possession, which she claimed to be her own when declaring them to customs officials.
It appears that the woman believed she had discovered an easy method for laundering money without detection.
The case came to light on March 1, after she reported that two men stole €420,000 from a handbag she had been carrying in Limassol, just two hours after she arrived in Cyprus.
Following investigations, Police arrested her on suspicion of money laundering.

The woman would often visit Cyprus up to three times a month, each time carrying over one million euros.
Particularly in February 2024, within 20 days, she transported over two million euros.
Similarly, in December 2023, within just eight days, she carried a total of €1.220.000, which she declared each time upon her arrival at Larnaca Airport.
The 31-year-old frequently travelled the route from Poland to Athens to Cyprus, using the Greek capital as a layover before heading to Larnaca and Paphos.
During her court referral process today in Larnaca, it was mentioned that the accused had made cash declarations on all twenty occasions she entered Cyprus, claiming the amounts were for the purchase of real estate and stating that the money was hers.
