Relevant News

Two cyclists sustained injuries in a hit-and-run incident on the Nicosia-Kyrenia main road in the occupied north this morning, as reported by Kibris Postasi.

The incident unfolded at approximately 6:30 am when cyclists Berkal Volkan and Nurettin Ulvi were struck and injured by a motorist who fled without stopping to provide any details.

Both cyclists are currently receiving medical treatment at Burhan NalbantoÄŸlu Hospital in Nicosia.

Local ‘authorities’ are actively working to identify the driver who fled the scene.

Expressing strong condemnation, the Turkish Cypriot Cycling Federation denounced the driver’s disregard for regulations following the accident and called for the imposition of the most severe penalties.

In an official statement, the federation declared:

“Today, we received distressing news that two of our cyclist friends were hit by a driver on the road to Kyrenia, and the driver fled, leaving them hospitalized.

We extend our wishes for a swift recovery to our cyclist friends. We condemn individuals who show insensitivity and disregard rules. We fervently hope that the elusive perpetrator is swiftly apprehended and subjected to the harshest possible penalties.”
