The circular junction in the Tala community of Paphos, which leads from the centre of the community to the Agios Neophytos Monastery and the Leptos Kamares Village, has now been transformed into an outdoor art installation.

Initiated by the Community Council and particularly its president, Areti Pieridou, and sponsored by the Leptos Group, the visual artist Yiota Ioannidou has turned the junction into an artwork, with the main characteristic being the water element and its connection to the area and the daily lives of its people.

A bronze sculpture depicting a girl surrounded by white doves, along with other doves dominating various parts of the constructed artwork, is the impressive result that has been completed these days and will be officially unveiled to the public next week.

The central idea of the entire project, stated to Phileleftheros by the president of the Tala Community Council, Areti Pieridou, is to highlight the connection between humans and nature.

The circular junction of Tala, one of the busiest points in the community due to its use for access to the renowned Agios Neophytos Monastery, as well as to a location like Leptos Kamares Village, she emphasised, will now serve as a reference point and create a spectacular scene. Beyond the artistic creation of a significant artist like Yiota Ioannidou, it will also feature the extensive use of the water element.

The idea of the artist, with which we fully agreed as a community authority, said Areti Pieridou, was to highlight the close connection of the people of Tala with nature and the water element.

Specifically, we wanted to highlight the issue of the many springs that exist in Tala and the water which has, in our days, dried up from most of them.

It is worth noting that just the day before yesterday, an artwork by Yiota Ioannidou was inaugurated on the beach of Parekklisia in Limassol, initiated by the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company, while outdoor works of hers have adorned various points of interest in the city of Paphos since 2017.
