The assurance that everything that needs to be done will be done regarding the investigation into the case of the Habakkuk Monastery was given today by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Palace and asked to comment on the scandal within the Church “that troubles society,” the President of the Republic said, “It is a scandal that troubles the entire society.”
“From the executive authority, I can assure society, the Cypriot people, that everything that needs to be done will be done. It’s already happening.”
“We have even proceeded with the appointment of independent investigators because there are certain allegations that need to be investigated.”
That’s why we proceeded with the appointment of independent investigators, to strengthen the investigative work. And it is important that, once the investigative procedures are completed and there is a case, decisions should be made immediately, without intervening in the judicial authority.”
