If there are no objections by 12:30 noon, 14 deputy mayors will be declared today in 14 municipal districts.
This was stated by the Chief Electoral Officer, Elickos Elias, in a statement to Alpha’s morning show.
Specifically, as he said, “there was one candidate in 14 municipal districts, and if there are no objections, they will be called and, if possible, deputy mayors will be declared today.”
He also mentioned that yesterday’s process of registering candidates for Local Government elections went smoothly and that “if everything goes well and we have no objections, because according to the legislation we must wait until 12:30 pm, we will have deputy mayors for Potamia and Nisou for the new Municipality of South Nicosia – Idalion, for the Anthoupoli settlement of the Lakatamia Municipality, for Kellia of the Aradippou Municipality, for Delikipos and Vavla of the Lefkara Municipality, for Livadia for the municipal district of Larnaca, for Akoursos and Pano Arodes of the new Akamas Municipality, for Makounta and Nea Dimmata of the Polis Chrysochous Municipality, and for Erimi, Sotira, and Kandou of the Western Limassol Municipality.
As he noted, at 16:00, the Nicosia District Officer and the Electoral Officer of Larnaca are preparing declarations, and at 13:00, the rest will follow.
