Remains found in Akamas belong to missing Briton, police say

Relevant News

Police believe that the human remains and clothes found on Wednesday in Akamas belong to a 69-year-old Briton who went missing in April 2023.

The skeleton was discovered by an off-duty police officer and his group of friends during a hunting excursion.

Paphos police spokesperson Michalis Nicolaou said that a number of scattered bones, forming the main part of a human skeleton, were identified and collected by authorities, along with clothing.

The examinations were carried out by forensic pathologist Nicolas Charalambous and an anthropologist from the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.

The exact identity will be established through genetic testing, however, police say they have reason to believe that the remains belong to the missing Briton.
