The ‘mystery’ has been solved why an Asian woman dressed to kill and on an electric scooter was approaching in high speed last Saturday’s October 1 military parade dignitaries platform in Nicosia.
She desperately wanted to hand a note – specifically a letter of recommendation that would help her find a decent job in Cyprus – to 2023 presidential candidate Nikos Christodoulides, Philenews reports citing insiders.
The Chinese woman who is also a British passport holder never managed to do it since police, caught on video, tackled her in a somewhat bizarre way that raised a storm of reaction on social media.
Specifically, the male officer who had stopped her appears to have groped her – something the police strongly denied in a statement on Thursday.
“He (the officer) had run his hand over her side at a rather uncomfortable spot totally unintentionally,” the statement said.
“He had immediately removed her from the area and the moment he spotted a female police officer he asked her to take the woman’s hand.
“According to police regulations, a male police officer has the right to arrest and search a woman if he suspects that an offense may be committed or lives are at risk. Until that moment, no one knew her intentions,” it added.
