At the heart of Roberta Metsola’s visit to Cyprus are the upcoming European elections.
During her two-day visit to Cyprus, the President of the European Parliament engaged in dialogue on Tuesday morning with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth organisation representatives from civil society on the subject of the European elections.
Furthermore, in an exclusive interview with Filelleftheros, on the occasion of both her visit and the impending European elections, Roberta Metsola noted, among other things, that democracy cannot be taken for granted.
“Democracy cannot be taken for granted. We must fight for it every day. That is why the upcoming European elections are of utmost importance. We must protect European democracy, and for this reason, I urge all Cypriots and all Europeans to vote and decide on Europe’s direction for the next five years,” she said.
