Limassol students face disruption over TEPAK decision

Relevant News

Holding banners and placards with the slogan “TEPAK against its students,” students of the School of Tourism, Hospitality, and Entrepreneurship in Limassol took to a protest outside the university’s administration building yesterday afternoon, protesting against the decision of the TEPAK Senate to transfer mandatory courses of the school from Limassol to Paphos.

The School is now located in Paphos, with approximately 150 third and fourth-year students being required to relocate from September to attend their classes in Paphos to complete their studies.

The affected students expressed their dissatisfaction with the University’s decision, which, as they point out, puts them in a difficult position. In statements, the President of the University’s Student Union, Petros Christodoulou, stated that for the first time in TEPAK’s history, the University is against its own students.

He emphasized that their demand is the withdrawal of the Senate’s decision, which has already caused significant concern among the affected students of the School.

Among other things, he mentioned that the students chose to study in Limassol for specific reasons and are already renting apartments under contract, while there are those who have already secured jobs that they do not want to leave to go to Paphos.
