Consistently moving towards claiming the title of European Capital of Culture for 2030, Limassol has begun to weave its own Network, extending an open invitation to organisations, volunteers, artists, sponsors, as well as ordinary citizens who wish to embrace its vision.
The Limassol 2030 Network is a conceptual network of people, groups, and organisations that actively contribute to the bid for the European Capital of Culture 2030 title through co-organising events or hosting Limassol 2030 in independent activities, aligning or adopting the goals and vision of Limassol 2030.
Among the main objectives of the Network are:
- Strengthening Limassol’s ecosystem through Culture and Arts
- Highlighting Limassol’s local identity and preserving its authenticity
- Producing events and spreading art across every corner of the city and beyond
- Supporting and empowering the local artistic and cultural community
- Encouraging interaction between artists, cultural groups, and other entities
- Ensuring accessibility and inclusion for everyone, especially vulnerable and underrepresented groups, in cultural, social, and artistic activities
- Creating good care practices, empathy, and acceptance in the city’s daily life
- Establishing safe spaces for the coexistence of all social and cultural groups that make up Limassol
- Integrating and empowering the European dimension at a cultural, social, and individual level
- Strengthening the bid for European Capital of Culture 2030
The invitation is extended to those who embrace the vision of Limassol 2030 as a means to claim a more humane, participatory, and inclusive city. On its open digital platform, Limassol 2030 invites the public to download material for free use, such as posters and digital badges, encouraging them to enhance the visibility and dissemination of the bid.
At the same time, it calls on those who wish to become members of the Network – as volunteers, sponsors, supporters, co-organisers of events – to express their interest through the following links:

Regarding the creation and announcement of the Network, the Artistic Director of Limassol 2030 European Capital of Culture Organisation, Candidate City, Eleana Alexandrou, notes:
“Tomorrow, Limassol will have evolved into a bustling, even more rapidly developing city. The extensive programme of cultural activities and events by independent voices, organisations, and artists that will be implemented if Limassol secures the title, will place people at the centre of social, cultural, and artistic dialogue. At the same time, such an undertaking will place the city itself at the heart of European cultural happenings. To achieve this, the Limassol 2030 Organisation has already begun to weave its Network, calling for collaboration. Join our team: coordinate, collaborate, strengthen our vision, and support the effort to claim the title of European Capital of Culture 2030.”
The European Capital of Culture Organisation Limassol 2030 – Candidate City was founded in November 2022 by the Municipality of Limassol, as an independent organisation, with the mission to claim the title of European Capital of Culture. In the event of Limassol’s selection, the Organisation will also undertake the implementation of the European Capital of Culture programme until 2030.
