The flood prevention project serving the area of Agioi Anargyroi in Larnaca was delivered last month, covering, among other areas, Agioi Anargyroi Avenue up to Spyros Kyprianou Avenue.

The third in a series of flood prevention projects by the Larnaca Sewerage Board, under the name C20A, which was completed and delivered on February 5, 2024, was visited last week by the President and the General Manager of the Council, and the Project Coordinator.

According to an announcement by the Larnaca Sewerage Board, the project is implemented within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Program “THALEIA 2021-2027” with the co-financing of the European Union at a rate of 85%.

Contract C20A, “whose works started on January 3, 2023, and were completed on schedule, includes the construction of a stormwater system in the area of Agioi Anargyroi Avenue. Within the framework of Contract C20A, valued at €2,264,000 plus VAT, approximately 3.2 km of stormwater pipelines were constructed serving the catchment area west of Agioi Anargyroi Avenue in Larnaca and covering Agioi Anargyroi Avenue, from the height of the Circular Avenue to Spyros Kyprianou Avenue, where it discharges into the existing channel of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue, and the area west of the avenue, including the Agioi Anargyroi Settlement.”

The execution of Contract C20A was awarded to the contractor S. Hadjichristofi Construction Ltd following a public open tender.

At the same time, construction works have been completed on two other flood prevention projects, which will also be co-financed by the Cohesion Policy Program “THALEIA 2021-2027” of the European Union.

These are Contract C20B, “which serves the catchment area around Alexandrou Panagoulis Avenue in Larnaca, and Contract C20D, which serves the catchment area on both sides of Faneromeni Avenue in Larnaca. The flood prevention projects in Larnaca cover areas facing serious flooding issues in Larnaca, aiming to alleviate them.”
