Habbakuk Monastery: bank details delay the investigation

Relevant News

The delay in the delivery of the financial statements from the banks, about the three monks of the Habbakuk Monastery, is the reason for the prolongation of the developments initiated by the investigating authorities.

According to Phileleftheros information, after securing orders to disclose bank accounts for the two archimandrites of the monastery and one monk, the investigators examining the financial aspect of the case have asked the commercial banks for details.

Some banks have responded, but it appears that not all the bank details of the three monks have been provided, since, according to information obtained, not all account transactions are recorded.

Specifically, transactions are recorded only up to 2021 and an effort is being made to identify them for the following years, to have a complete picture. It is noted that apart from bank accounts, investigators also froze the monks’ real estate in an attempt to establish how it was acquired.

Any developments are postponed for the coming days, especially after the reaction of the lawyers of the archimandrites, who challenged the legality of the freezing orders, as their application is set for a hearing on April 26.
