Hundreds of people shouted for the freedom of Palestine at a protest event on the beachfront of Finikoudes in Larnaca.
The protesters, with Palestinian flags in their hands, shouted slogans in Arabic and English, and held placards and photos of bombings in the Gaza Strip, of wounded and victims. Several were also wearing the traditional Palestinian headscarf. The most prevalent slogans were “Freedom in Palestine,” “Palestine is a pain that makes the soul stronger,” and “Gaza has become a river of blood”.
This is the third pro-Palestinian protest held in Finikoudes since October 7 and the Hamas attack on Israel. Yesterday, it was by far the most massive, with an estimated 250 protesters.
But the police forces were also strong, with 200 members of the police lined up on the street. Among the security measures taken for the march in solidarity with the people of Palestine, was the mobilization of the anti-pollution vehicle “Ajax” and the closure of the coastal road.
