Cyprus Police Association president resigns

Relevant News

The Cyprus Police Association has made public the resignation letter of its President, Kyriakos Charalambous, in which he cites personal issues and increased professional obligations as reasons for his voluntary departure.

In the letter, he states that after seven years in the position of President of the Cyprus Police Association, he bids farewell to people with whom he has fought for many years, striving for a better present and future for the police profession.

He adds that when he took on the leadership of the association, he set three clear goals, which although seemed unattainable in the past, were achieved through hard work and countless hours, listing them in his resignation letter.

Among other things, he notes the upgrading of scales from special constable to senior superintendent, harmonising police hours with public service, the pension scheme for police officers previously not covered, and special constables who had no pension or tax-free lump sum for everyone since the foundation of the police force.

Mr Charalambous appeals to the members of the Association to remain united so they can continue to contribute to the Association and the police, safeguarding and strengthening it. He concludes by assuring that he will always be there for the Association in whatever way he can be helpful.
