Cold night and holiday showers, as dust returns on Tuesday

A low pressure system is affecting Cyprus, bringing low temperatures, showers on tomorrow’s national holiday, but temperatures remain in the low over 20s during the day, with Saharan dust expected back in the atmosphere over early next week.

Clear and cold this evening, with light to moderate westerly to northwesterly winds force three to four, over slight seas. Temperatures will drop to six degrees Celsius inland, 8 over southern and eastern coastal regions, 12 in the west and north and one over the mountains, where frost is expected to form.

Isolated showers are forecast tomorrow, the 25th of March national holiday, mainly in the western part of the island, with moderate to strong winds, force four to five, turning very strong force six in windward regions. Temperatures will rise to 21 degrees Celsius inland, the southern and eastern coastal regions, 20 in the west and north and 10 on the mountains. Isolated showers will continue tomorrow evening.

Temperatures are expected to rise significantly over the next week, much higher than the seasonal average.
