PRIO Research Centre is organising a conference on the impact of Brexit on Cyprus on Friday, November 9:
“When BREXIT was voted for by in the June 2016 referendum, it became yet one more of the unexpected international political events that became so frequent in recent years. The news of BREXIT shook the European Union (EU) and the West more generally, as it entailed numerous changes and a lot of political and economic uncertainty. Cyprus, a former British colony, a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, an EU member-state, a country with close political and economic ties to the United Kingdom and still home of British Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs), has every reason to be interested in the future of the BREXIT negotiations and its multi-leveled implications. Against this background, the conference has the goal of reviewing the status of negotiations on BREXIT between the UK and the EU and evaluating the likely political, economic, social and strategic effects of BREXIT for Cyprus.
The conference is organised by PRIO Cyprus Centre, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Cyprus and the University of East Anglia.”
