Ayia Napa hosts youth football festival

Relevant News

Satisfaction reigns in Ayia Napa for the great interest shown this year, both from Cyprus and abroad, in the McDonald’s Ayia Napa Youth Football Festival, with over 4,000 children registering to participate, breaking all records. The organisation of the festival is expected to bring thousands to the area, with estimates suggesting more than 2,000 will travel from various countries.

The McDonald’s Ayia Napa Youth Football Festival will take place at the sports facilities of the Ayia Napa Municipality in two phases.

The first from April 27th to May 1st for the Grassroots categories of boys and girls, and the second from May 10th to 12th for the age groups of youth aged 13-17.

The Ayia Napa Municipality announced that the participation of academies from abroad has increased by 80% compared to last year.

Particularly positive, as emphasised, “is the fact that beyond the traditional Middle Eastern countries, this year we also see participation from countries such as Finland, Malta, the Czech Republic, Poland, and England, while there is also participation from an African country, Botswana.”

In this year’s event, children will have the opportunity to compete in 21 different age categories, starting from those born in 2007 up to 2018.

At the tournament venue, in collaboration with the Karaiskakio Foundation, a sampling centre will operate for the bone marrow donor registry.
