In recent days, there has been a rise in strong complaints from residents and businesses within the municipal boundaries of Paphos Municipality, who are witnessing significant increases in their water bills.
In some cases, bills have even doubled or tripled.
This was denounced in a statement by AKEL Paphos, stating that the sharp increases have emerged following the installation and operation of smart water meters by Paphos Municipality.
The citizens’ pockets can’t withstand any more hikes, especially when they are unjustified and provoke strong public reaction, it is emphasised.
The District Committee of AKEL Paphos calls on the Mayor and the Municipal Council to provide convincing answers regarding the reasons for the increases and to take immediate measures to resolve the issue, the party concludes.
