The widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is unpredictable, saying that the possibility of him using nuclear weapons at some point cannot be ruled out.
“We don’t know what to expect from him,” Yulia Navalnaya told the German news agency (dpa). “He probably would.”
Navalnaya compared the question to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying she did not expect Putin to go on the offensive then, given the strong ties between the two countries. “Yet he decided to do it. He is terrorizing people, keeping them in fear. No one knows what Putin will do next.” Putin invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
Navalnaya also said she is not sure Putin has a “strong strategy.”
She also commented on the recent arrests of several suspected Russian spies in Europe, saying they are another indication that Putin has long been waging war in the heart of Europe, using all necessary means.
“Putin hasn’t just started now, he’s been doing this from the beginning. He is starting wars, killing his opponents,” Navalnaya said, adding that their existence does not surprise her. “I have always believed that there are many Russian spies in Europe – Russian spies, it’s obvious.”
