Low-paid public sector employees, members of the Isotita (Equality) union, are staging a two-hour work stoppage today from 13:00 to 15:00 as a sign of protest against what they describe as stagnation in their advancement.
According to an announcement from the Branch Council of Secretarial and Administrative Personnel of the union, in a letter sent on March 6 to the Minister of Finance, the Council highlighted “significant injustices and omissions included in the regulation for the accelerated advancement of low-paid public employees and indefinite-term employees and demanded their immediate correction.”
The Council does not rule out escalating measures if there is no specific timeline update from the government, as stated.
