Cyprus’ Statistical Service announced on Monday that it will not be publishing its Passengers Survey for April 2020 due to the flight ban in place by the government since March 21 to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

In a press release, the Statistical Service said that “following the decrees published by the Government of Cyprus and the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Passengers Survey, which provides data on tourist arrivals, revenue from tourism and the returns of residents of Cyprus from a trip abroad, was not conducted in April 2020.”

As a result of the ban, it was added, during April 2020 there were no arrivals of tourists and hence no revenue from tourism.

According to the Statistical Service’s estimates based on information provided by the Civil Aviation, a total of 4,000 residents of Cyprus returned from abroad in April 2020.
