Polish market boosts Cypriot tourism prospects

Relevant News

The loss of the Russian market and the anticipated decrease in tourists from Israel have redirected the efforts of the authorities of free Famagusta towards the countries of the European Union.

Following the Berlin exhibition, the Famagusta Regional Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP), along with hotels in the area, represented the province at the Roadshow organised by the Ministry of Tourism from 8-10 April in Warsaw, Krakow, and Katowice.

The messages received by the authorities of free Famagusta from the emerging Polish market, according to ETAP, were particularly optimistic.

There was increased interest in Ayia Napa and Protaras for mass tourism during the summer months, as well as for special forms of tourism. Moreover, it is estimated that arrivals from Poland in 2024 will surpass those of the previous year.

ETAP Famagusta announced that it conducted a series of meetings with leading travel organisers operating in the Polish market, aiming to promote the region and further strengthen the trend observed in recent years from various Polish cities that have shown confidence in the area.

As noted, through these meetings, there was a clear intention to reinforce existing collaborations, “a particularly encouraging element for the tourism sector in the region, as well as in Cyprus more broadly, given that Poland is an important market with significant prospects, both in terms of summer tourism and special forms of tourism throughout the year.”

Regarding the prospects of the Polish market, which is becoming increasingly important for Cypriot tourism, George Kafkalias, the operator of ETAP Famagusta, commented, “The connectivity between Larnaca airport and several destinations in Poland with direct flights is a crucial factor for further investment in the Polish market.”

He further added that one of the significant aspects highlighted during the meetings was the intention expressed by travel organisers to utilise the region as an attractive destination throughout the year, which, he said, creates new dynamics.

It should be noted that the presence of ETAP Famagusta at the workshops-presentations in Poland is part of the actions agreed upon by ETAP members for 2024 and is an integral part of the new communication and promotion strategy in international markets as formulated for the current year.
