Busy summer ahead for Paphos as tourist flights soar

Relevant News

Paphos Airport has seen a significant increase in flights since mid-March, according to officials from Hermes Airports, the company that manages Cyprus’ airports.

The increase is expected to be even greater in April, pointing to a very busy summer season for Paphos.

The increase in traffic follows a successful winter season for the island’s second airport, with 115 weekly flights landing in Paphos from 40 airports in various European cities. This continues the tremendous growth that Paphos Airport has seen over the past three years.

The low-cost airline giant Ryanair continues to be the flagship of the increased flight schedule from Paphos.

Since the beginning of March, Ryanair has strengthened its schedule to and from Paphos with flights from airports in Poland, Austria, France, the United Kingdom and the Baltic countries. There will also be daily flights to and from Athens in the near future.

Local officials are particularly encouraged by the fact that Paphos remains connected year-round with major airports in the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Poland and other European countries. However, there is a need for further flights from airports in Germany and the Scandinavian countries.

The continued increase in connectivity is of great strategic importance for Paphos and Cyprus as a whole, according to officials in Paphos.

The strengthened schedules are expected to give a significant boost to the economy and further develop the various tourism sectors with the aim of fully recovering the industry.
