Cyprus provides golden businesses opportunities for international law firms

In the past few years, foreign law firms have sealed deals exceeding €10 million with Cyprus. The firms have been working mainly on pending cases involving Greece and Cyprus at the International Tribunal.

In 2016, fees exceeded €17 million. The Republic of Cyprus through its Legal Service has worked with law firms with specialised expertise in financial crises since 2014. The cases they deal with mainly concern the PSI and bail-ins for Greek and foreign depositors.

In 2017 the international law firms Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP headquartered in New York had a fee of €3.091.781. In 2016 the company’s fees reached €2.958.880, while in 2015 the company was reimbursed with €1.816.555.
In 2017, the Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP office in London, dealing inter alia with international arbitration and court proceedings, white collar crime, employment and financial regulation, received €3.071.185. In 2016 its fee was €3.972.272, in 2015 it was €1.572.070 and in 2014 €372.672.
