Natural trails of Cyprus. Part II. Vouni Panagias

Vouni is a small village in Limassol District, located 7 km north of Agios Therapon. The name of the village is derived from its location, in which Vouni means “low mountain” in Greek.

There is a circular natural trail going across the village. At its highest points it offers excellent views to Panagia village, Akamas peninsula, Pafos forest and Troodos mountain range. The route goes through vineyards. Towards the end of the trail there is a choice between two routes. One leads to “Papalouka” picnic site and Panagia Chrysorrogiatissa monastery and then on to Panagia village. The other, a shorter route, leads directly to the village. There is access to Vouni fire lookout station.

Difficulty Rate: Category 3. High degree of difficulty. Route with difficult terrain such as sudden changes in gradient (uphill and/or downhill), course along particularly rough and/or slippery, and/or narrow, and/or steep terrain.

Suitable for adults in a very good to excellent fitness level. Unsuitable for young children.
