Relevant News

President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday morning will get the coronavirus vaccine on live television as part of efforts to convince the public the inoculations are safe.

Inoculations in Cyprus are to start on Sunday, the day after Boxing Day, with residents of elderly homes and their caretakers given top priority.

Based on the schedule given by the manufacturer and the European Commission, the vaccines will be delivered in instalments on a weekly basis.

Cyprus will probably receive approximately 28% of the total quantity ordered and 86% of the expected amount of vaccines within the first quarter of 2021.

The first batch of vaccines will inoculate about 8,000 people, with priority given to nursing home residents and staff as well as health professionals at the Famagusta General Hospital which acts as the reference one for coronavirus.
