Limassol gears up to welcome a record-breaking number of participants for the OPAP Limassol Marathon, Cyprus’ biggest sporting event.

Over 17,000 runners are expected to descend upon the city for the weekend of April 13 and 14.

Registration is booming, with over 5,000 runners already signed up. Notably, more than 800 will tackle the prestigious 42-kilometre marathon, a record number for Cypriot events.

This international competition boasts participants from over 40 countries, with 2,000 runners expected to be high-level athletes.

The marathon weekend caters to runners of all ages and abilities. Six races are scheduled, starting with the PrimeTel Corporate 5km on Saturday morning.

The Youth Race, organised by the Dasin Foundation, follows later that day, encouraging participation from children aged 6 to 12.

Sunday’s program features the full marathon, alongside the half marathon (21km), the 10km Petrolina Energy Race, and the 5km RemAthlon Individual Race. The PrimeTel Corporate 5km on Saturday boasts an impressive line-up, with over 12,000 runners representing nearly 300 companies expected.

A portion of the proceeds is donated to various organisations, and runners are encouraged to contribute to causes close to their hearts through givengain.com. In 2023, over €60,000 was raised for charity through the event.
